Orvieto: It stands on a volcanic tuff at 124 Km away from Rome, close to Bolsena, the largest volcanic lake in Europe. The archaeological evidence attributes the small town to be of Etruscan origin. Then in the late fourth and the beginning of the third century BC Orvieto fell under the rule of the Western Roman Empire. Among the monuments and places of cultural and artistic interest is the Cathedral of Orvieto, a masterpiece of Italian Gothic architecture and the Chapel of San Brizio, famous for its frescoes of The Last Judgment by Luca Signorelli (1499-1502). Other points of interest also include a series of medieval and Renaissance palaces, as well as the caves of Hadrian known as Orvieto underground and the two famous necropolis. In short, a town that is worth visiting.

Civita di Bagnoregio: The town was founded 2500 years ago by the Etruscans. It is situated on a rocky outcrop between Lake Bolsena and the Tiber valley in an isolated position. The only entrance to the village is by a footbridge made of reinforced concrete built in 1965. The cause for its isolation is the gradual erosion of the hill and surrounding valley that continues to erode today. The village is noted for its medieval houses, the church of San Donato, the Bishop's Palace, a sixteenth century mill and the door of Santa Maria. The only one of five that has remained intact over time. Civita di Bagnoregio was proposed in 2005 as a Site of Community Importance and is registered as one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. Due to its strikingly geographic position unique in the entire world and its medieval origins, it has become a very popular tourist destination and has been frequently used as a film set.
